YWAM Raleigh exists to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through global and local witness, we partner with churches to mobilize, equip, and serve short-term teams and long-term workers dedicated to reaching the unreached—the last, least, and those who are lost.

We want to see the knowledge of the glory of God fill the earth as the waters cover the sea. God is restoring all things to His original intentions. We hope to get a glimpse of the heart of God so we may work with him to fulfill His purpose for his glory.

A disciple, in essence, is a learner. Just as Jesus’ disciples lived, learned, and mirrored His ways, we are called to be perpetual learners, embracing and embodying the teachings and practices of Jesus.

Commissioned by Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit, we’re witnesses in our neighborhoods and to the unreached ends of the earth, where 3 billion people await the Gospel.

A global movement
of Christians from diverse cultures, age groups, and Christian denominations, united in their commitment to serving Jesus Christ across the globe.
It all started with a vision. In June of 1956, Loren Cunningham, a 20-year-old student from the United States, spent part of his summer break touring Nassau, Bahamas with a singing group.
One night, after a busy day, Loren had an extraordinary experience. “As I lay down on the bed,” he recalled, “I propped up the pillow, opened my Bible, and asked God to speak to me as usual. What followed was anything but usual.
“Suddenly, I found myself gazing at a world map that seemed alive, in motion! I sat up, bewildered. I blinked, rubbed my eyes. It was like watching a mental movie. I could see all the continents, with waves crashing onto their shores. Each wave surged onto a continent, then receded, only to return and cover the continent completely.
“I caught my breath. Then, the scene transformed. The waves turned into young people—people my age and even younger—spreading across the continents. They were engaging with people on street corners and outside bars. They were going from house to house. They were preaching.”
